A flight engineer working for Federal Express (an air cargo subsidiary of the major cargo company FedEx) boarded the company's cargo flight, Flight 705 (a McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30F from Memphis to San Jose), entered the cockpit, and attempted to hijack the aircraft and crash it into the FedEx headquarters building, committing suicide. He attacked the pilot and crew with weapons, but the crew fought back and restrained him, resulting in the attempted hijacking failing, and Flight 705 made an emergency landing with no casualties.
