Game Introduction
Notes: *Please read everything here, thank you!* This Scratch project was created as my final project for one of my classes. Because of this, I was, of course, pressured on time with the due date. The entire ending of the project was done the day before this project was due (Because frankly, I spent too much time on everything else in this project) so it may seemed rushed or lazily done. I also had a hard time finding out a way I could capture the ending of this project in the short amount of time I had left without making a bunch of pictures to flash on the screen. The fact that Diego wasn't a full dinosaur in my project was an obstacle as well. So I tried to end it as best I could with text boxes and differing paths to go, most leading to death (so be careful of what you choose!). I also altered the ending of this project from that of the manga so I could better expand my project and make different endings and such. Some pictures included in this project were pulled actually from the Steel Ball Run manga itself, and I couldn't find it in color, so I took it upon myself to redraw and color it to include it in my project. I did this because 1.) I thought it would be an interesting idea to incorporate into my project, 2.) Some scenes I couldn't animate/code so with the pictures, I was able to give the viewer of this project a good visual idea of what is happening. I also decided to make this project as close to the manga as I could, using dialogue straight from the manga into my project. Although, some scenes in this project I couldn't include, for example: Diego doing stunts on the horse, catching the fly to prove Johnny that he could see, etc. I couldn't do these because lack of enough time and because I wasn't entirely sure how. Although Johnny is paraplegic, I found it quite challenging to incorporate him into the project, so although his sprite depicts him clearly standing, just keep in mind I had to do what I could. There is also many circumstances in this project where the characters are riding horses, but alas, I can not draw horses (or many animals) very well, so I tried to work my way around that factor as best I could. Following along with me not being able to draw animals well, towards the end I realized that I wouldn't be able to depict Diego transforming and appearing like a dinosaur. After thinking about my situation, I decided to build off of multiple resources and designs of a humanoid Diego that still somewhat resembles a dinosaur or a creature of sorts. Also in this project, for those of you who know Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and have read Steel Ball Run, you already know about Tusk and Johnny's ability to use nail bullets, but for those that don't know, I shall briefly explain. In JJBA, from Part 3 (Stardust Crusaders) and onwards, characters are given an ability called a stand, which is a physical manifestation of one's mentality. As for the main character in this project, Johnny Joestar, his stand's name is Tusk and it allows him to use his fingernails as bullets practically. So towards the end when nail bullets are mentioned, you now know what I am referring to if you hadn't before. I would also like to point out that I am aware that Gyro uses Steel Balls to attack, not "projectiles" but since this is a school project, I thought that if I had used the words "Steel Balls" in my project, it would raise a lot of questions and concerns not just from my fellow students, but my teachers as well. -- Credit: All the sprites are drawn by me. How To Play
_-*DISCLAIMER : This project is based off of the Scary Monsters Arc in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Steel Ball Run (Which is the 7th Arc in JJBA)*-_ In this project you make the decisions of a paraplegic teenager, named Johnny Joestar, who is accompanied by his partner, Gyro Zeppeli. Throughout the project, Johnny and Gyro discover their rival, Diego Brando, mildly injured and beside the road. As they decide to leave and head to their planned destination, Rocky Mountain Village, Diego comes back, seemingly completely unharmed, unlike before. Johnny starts to notice Diego acting quite strange and that patches of his skin seemed to resemble that of scales. This caused Johnny to elicit several questions and concerns about Diego, but all his questions were answered shortly after they arrived at Rocky Mountain Village. The instructions on this project are quite simple. All you have to do is sit through the project and read the dialogue. There will be scenes where a button is needed to be pressed to advance the story, but the buttons are stated straightforward in the text. Towards the end, make sure you think about your options and press the correct one; Something bad might happen if you choose the wrong option.
