I decided to get my entry done early so I won't have to worry about it later on. So, here it is. The theme is detail, and I spent hours working on this. She's a Yuki-onna, a Japanese snow spirit. They're not always benevolent (in fact, more often than not they freeze lost travelers). I am of Japanese heritage, so I always like learning about Japanese folklore, and as soon as I read about the Yuki-onna I knew I wanted to draw her. This was several months ago, but I didn't get around to it until the contest came up and I had some motivation. The funny thing is that my family insists it looks like me. :-/ Uh, I don't have blue eyes. Or blue lips, for that matter. I had a conversation with my brother that went something like this: Him: "I think it captures your essence better than any of your self-portraits." Me: "...So you're telling me I look like a creepy snow spirit." Him: "No! But...I mean, the face and everything..." Music is Arcadia, by Kevin MacLeod/incompetech.com.
