World War II Tanks and Vehicles 2D Sprites

Game Introduction

Announcement: It's the summer now and there's no more Grade 7! I can spend more time on Scratch, as well as writing piano sonatas and symphonies! I also fixed up the Cyrillic on the front thumbnail (I'm not allowed to speak Russian in my American school so I kind of forgot some of it). -Tanks/vehicles recently completed: Flakpanzer IV Möbelwagen (3.7cm FlaK 43) -Tanks/vehicles that MIGHT be added soon: Flakpanzer IV Möbelwagen (2cm FlaK 38), Flakpanzer IV Kügelblitz (3cm), M36 Jackson GMC "Slugger", M36B1 GMC, M4A1 Sherman Calliope, M3A1 Stuart, M2A3 "Mae West" Light Tank, M2A4 Light Tank, M2 Medium Tank, M2A1 Medium Tank, SdKfz 231 Schwerer Panzerspähwagen 6-räd Armored Car, PzKpfw IV Ausf. C, Flammpanzer II(F) Ausf. D "Flamingo", PzKpfw 35(t), T-38 Model 1937, M4A1 Sherman IC Firefly (M4A1 75W chassis), M3 Stuart "Honey" (for British Army), Landkreuzer P-1000 Ratte (might take a while and is at the end of the list so other tanks may be planend before), KV-6 Super Heavy Tank (might take a while and is at the end of the list so other tanks may be planend before) -Tanks/vehicles that are set to be revamped/reworked: M4A4 Sherman, M4A4 Sherman VC Firefly, M3 Lee, M10 Wolverine, M4A3 Sherman Calliope, M24 Chaffee, M18 Hellcat GMC, M26 Pershing, M3 Stuart, M5 Stuart, M5A1 Stuart, M8 Scott What I'm working on: AMERICAN ARMY: American light tanks/tankettes, halftracks and variants, armored cars, and probably some jeeps and trucks are planned to be added. The tanks based off of the Sherman tank chassis are already starting to be revamped with better colors, graphics, and lengthened hull sizes to match those of the German panzers. GERMAN ARMY: More German trucks, terrain vehicles, and halftracks that go by the "SdKfz" designation are also going to be added. Several tank and vehicle models based on existing models could be added with some modifications. Some remaining German tanks that are based off of the Panzer III and IV chassis are in progress, like the Heuschrecke 10 SPG. SOVIET ARMY: Soviet KV series heavy tanks are already complete, but the KV-3, KV-5, and KV-7 prototypes are planned. I am planning to finish Soviet BT series light tanks like the BT-5 and BT-2, as well as the T-26 Model 1933 light tank several T-38/T-40 amphibious tanks. Light tanks and the remaining heavy tanks is my main goal, other than the T-44/85 and T-44/100 medium tanks, there isn't any more other medium tanks I'm planning to make after all the T-34s are complete (unless you ask me to). BRITISH ARMY: British tanks are in progress, and the Mk. III Valentine, as well as the Cromwell and Comet tanks, would be added soon. Mk. III, Mk. IV, and Mk. VII Churchill tanks are planned for those who want to see British heavy tanks. JAPANESE ARMY: Japanese tanks like the Type 95 "Ha-Go", Type 2 "Ka-Mi", Type 3 "Ho-Ni" III, as well as the Type-97 "Chi-Ha" 57mm, are planned to made on here after unannounced amount of time, in case anyone needs sprites for the Pacific Front. OTHER TANKS: French and Italian tanks are planned for later on, since they aren't a major faction during the war and therefore didn't have that many tank variants. They WILL be added one day, I can promise you that. SPECIAL: Super-heavy tanks like the KV-6, the 80cm Schwerer Gustav railgun, and the Landkreuzer P.1000 Ratte are planned. But their sizes are too big, so the sprite size is shrank overall on the screen, but not in the sprite itself (I'm still working on them). Their scale may be reduced for avoiding further performance issues, because even a large tank within the normal range wouldn't even fit on the editor page.

How To Play

-Press the red arrows for the next or previous sprite. -There are over two hundred tanks/vehicle sprites already added! If you want to see all of them, please go INSIDE the project and click on the costumes of the different tank sprites. It's more easier to see the full-sized version of each tank and vehicle, because some are so large that they can't fit on the screen (everything is to scale, or I tried). PLANNED TO BE FIXED: The backdrop is planned to be fixed instead of a boring brown background (it should resemble some kind of large tank battlefield like from the Battle of Kursk or the Battle of El Alamein, depending on the nationality of the tank). FRONT THUMBNAIL: (Top) American M24 Chaffee light tank with a special and distinctive yellow circle marking painted around the white star, (Middle) German PzKpfw 38(t) Ausf E light tank with the number "231" painted on the side, (Bottom) Soviet BT-7 Model 1937 light tank with the Russian words "ЗА РОДИНУ" painted on the side of the turret (translates to "For the Motherland" in English). MIDDLE THUMBNAIL: (Top) The famous American M4A3E8(76) HVSS Sherman Easy Eight "Fury" medium tank from the 2014 Fury movie, (Bottom) The famous German PzKpfw VI "Tiger 131" heavy tank in the standard DAK (Deutsche Afrika Korps) sand-colored Camouflage. BACK THUMBNAIL: (Top) The famous German VK 45.01 PzKpfw Tiger(P) Porsche Tiger "White Tiger" heavy tank from the 2012 Белый Тигр (White Tiger) movie, (Bottom) One of the Soviet T-34/85 Model 1943 medium tanks that fought the White Tiger. WHAT IS THIS PROJECT ABOUT? These sprites are just 2D World War II tanks and vehicles made in vector style with broad outline and realistic features and details. There are over 150 sprites currently for tanks, and about 60 to 70 sprites for vehicles. There are also quite a few of gun sprites and soldier sprites, despite the title, because I do have to implement machine guns into some of the tanks. The soldier base is for making the tank crew, since some tanks are open-topped and the tank crew would be visible. Making tank crew would be the final step after ALL the sprites are complete, which will take forever. DID I GET ANY HELP MAKING THESE SPRITES? Every sprite is 100% made by me on here, with reference from 2D pictures of vehicles/tanks found on reliable websites like Tank Encyclopedia or Wardrawings (World War II). HOW LONG DID IT TAKE ME TO MAKE THEM? It takes me roughly around 20/30 minutes to an hour to make each sprite (I must have spent DAYS non-stop time on making all these sprites!). WHAT'S THE REASON FOR ALL OF THIS? The main purpose of these sprites is adding some tanks, vehicles, and infantry units for a WWII game I plan to make on an Unity Game Engine later on, but I decided to share them to you along the way. WIP (WORK-IN-PROGRESS) NOTES: Since this project is WIP, some sprites are finished, and some are not. Those will have the "still in progress" text words on the top of the costume, only have a chassis/hull, partly completed areas, or will simply be blank/empty. Those are planned and will be finished sooner or later. CREDITS AND REFRENCING: I don't mind if you take any sprites from here and using them in your own projects, but please credit me with the link to this project if you did. If you found out another tank I haven't listed in the project yet or that's on my list of planned tanks, tell me in the comments and I can add it on as soon as possible. SIZE AND SCALE: Note that some tanks (Like the King Tiger and the Maus tanks) are too big to fit on screen, because I try to put everything to scale and their sizes are simply ginormous when compared to other tanks. Some parts of the frontal and the rear hull might appear "cut off" if you view it from the main project page, even in fullscreen. But you can always see inside and go to the costumes of the sprite to find the full tank image. The tanks are NOT "cut off", they just simply cannot fit on the screen if everything is to scale. I have to keep everything to scale, because when I add tank crew sprites, some of the soldiers may appear too big if the tank is shrunk to fit on screen. HISTORICAL DETAILS: The German Iron Cross/Bar Cross (Balkenkreuz) is an historical symbol used before the Nazis existed, such as serving as a medal worn by Prussian generals in the 18th century, so its involvement with the Nazis during World War II does not mean it is illegal and should not be used. In World War I, it was on the tricolor flag of the Imperial German Empire, as well as imprinted on tanks and infantry uniforms of the same period. Therefore, the Nazis did not "invent" the symbol, and its placement on German tanks during the second world war is represented in this project for historical reasons, and NOT meant to promote fascism/Nazism. The swastika was never used on any tanks, and was mainly used on flags and for political purposes. #tanks
