Urdu is the official language of Pakistan, a country in Asia. It’s one of the many Hindustani languages, and uses the Arabic alphabet. It’s estimated that about 100 million people worldwide speak Urdu, making it the 11th most spoken language in the world! The most similar language to Urdu is Hindi, though they use different lettering, they’re nearly the same! Urdu is written from right to left, but Roman Urdu shown in this comic is written left to right! Some words in English that are from Urdu include khaki, kismet, pyjama, and cummerbund. Famous Pakistanis (people who speak Urdu) include Kumali Nanjiami, Malala Yousafzai, Iman Vellani, and Mahira Khan. Some famous Pakistani characters are Ms. Marvel (Marvel Comics/MCU), Red Dagger (Marvel Comics/MCU), and Norma Khan (Dead End Paranormal Park).
